DESCRIPTION:Come join us for a double-feature program including a film presentation and live folk music performance.\n\n\n\n"Dance of the Sandhill Crane" documents the extraordinary life of this truly ancient species. From a frighteningly low 17 recorded nesting pairs in the 1930s\, to over 8\,000 individuals today\, the Sandhill Crane has made an incredible comeback in Michigan. Experience courtship dancing\, chick hatching\, life around the marsh and beyond\, and intense sibling rivalry·· a significant cause of chick mortality. Filmed near Round Lake in Petoskey. Michigan.\n\n\n\nJeff Lange\, Michigan LoonWatch Area Coordinator of LoonCorps Northern Michigan\, and Wildlife Filmmaker\, created the film "Dance of the Sandhill Crane" in 2016. Tragically. Jeff passed away from a heart attack in February 2019 at the height of his film and musical career\, while doing something he loved the most: snow-shoeing and enjoying nature. His life and\n\nmusical partner\, Lee Anne Whitman\, is carrying on Jeff's legacy by sharing his film and songs they created for their folk music bond "Indigo Moon".\n\n\n\nAfter the film presentation\, Lee Anne will bring her guitar and voice to share some of Indigo Moon's original nature-inspired music. Jeff and Lee Anne's love of nature\, from the tiny mayfly to the vast universe\, convey this love and fascination into the lines of their music.\n\n\n\nDVDs of both of Jeff's films "Dance of the Sandhill Crane" and ''The UnCommon Loon" will be available for purchase at the presentation\, along with Indigo Moon's music CD of original songs.\n\n\n\n\nImage URL: https://looncorps.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/crane-and-chick.jpg
